Our Team of Governors

The governing body has an extremely important role: it is responsible for working strategically in partnership with the head teacher and staff to identify the most important aspects of school that need to be improved, approving plans to achieve this and ensuring progress

Being a school governor is a commitment to attending governing body meetings which consider issues such as setting the school vision, mitigating financial risk and scrutinising educational outcomes. They are also involved in the school community, acting as critical friends to the headteacher and senior leaders. 

Governors bring a wide range of skills and expertise from their professional lives to the governing board and schools benefit greatly from working with skilled volunteers.

Our governing body consists of parent governors, staff governors, the head teacher, co-opted governors, Foundation Governors and a Local Authority (LA) governor.

The Full Governing Body meets each term. Committee meetings for Curriculum and Achievement and Resources (Finance, Health and Safety and Personnel) also meet termly and governors serve on one of these committees. There are also smaller committees for Pay and Appraisal, Admissions and Appeals and these meet less often. The school now has a Working Group to support the Expansion programme. Minutes and reports are stored electronically on Governor Hub and can be made available on request to the Chair of Governors via the school office.

We also invite governors to come into school occasionally during the school day so they can understand how the school operates and see improvements for themselves.
