Remote Education Provision at St Edburg’s CE Primary School

St Edburg’s CE Primary School is committed to ensuring continuity of education for all pupils when they are unable to attend school in person. Remote education is provided in line with Department for Education guidance and reflects the school’s Christian vision, ensuring that all pupils are valued, supported, and enabled to continue learning.

Circumstances Where Remote Education Is Provided

Remote education may be offered when:

  • A pupil is unable to attend school due to significant illness.

  • A class, group, or the whole school is unable to open due to exceptional circumstances.

  • Individual pupils are required to learn from home for short periods, where appropriate and agreed with the school.

Remote education is not routinely used as a substitute for regular attendance and is implemented only when in-school learning is not possible.

Platforms and Resources Used

Remote learning is delivered using a combination of:

  • Google Classroom to share learning activities, resources, and feedback.

  • Carefully selected online platforms that are already familiar to pupils.

  • Paper-based learning packs, where digital access is limited.

Resources provided are aligned with the school’s curriculum and mirror, as closely as possible, the learning that would take place in school.

Curriculum and Learning Expectations

  • Learning activities are planned in line with the school’s curriculum intent and sequencing.

  • Pupils are provided with a daily set of learning tasks that include core subjects and wider curriculum areas where appropriate.

  • Tasks are designed to be achievable independently, with clear instructions and examples.

  • Teachers review completed work and provide feedback to support progress and understanding.

Support for Pupils with SEND

The school recognises that pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) may require additional support when learning remotely. Provision includes:

  • Adapted tasks and resources in line with pupils’ individual needs.

  • Close liaison between class teachers, the SENCO, and families.

  • Ongoing communication with parents and carers to support engagement and wellbeing.

Access and Inclusion

St Edburg’s CE Primary School works with families to identify and address any barriers to accessing remote education. Where required, alternative arrangements such as printed materials are provided to ensure all pupils can continue learning.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Safeguarding remains a priority during periods of remote education. The school:

  • Uses secure, school-approved platforms.

  • Maintains regular contact with pupils and families.

  • Ensures all online interactions follow the school’s safeguarding and acceptable use policies.

Review and Monitoring

Remote education provision is monitored by school leaders to ensure it remains effective, inclusive, and aligned with DfE guidance. Adjustments are made where necessary to meet the needs of pupils and families.

Home Learning Devices

Whilst Class Dojo can be accessed from any mobile device with internet access, it is preferable that children have access to a device such as a tablet or laptop to complete some of the remote learning work.

If your child does not have access to a device such as a laptop or tablet to use for Remote Learning, and you are unable to acquire one, the school does have a few devices available for this purpose.

Please contact the School Office for more information on this.
